Basic In-home Support

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is for people who would like to remain living at home and in their community

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

For people aged 65 years and older, the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) can provide basic in-home support services for people who would like to remain living at home and in their community. This can include meal preparation, bathing assistance or general home maintenance.

These services are available and partly funded through the CHSP

  • Domestic Assistance: General house cleaning, laundry and unaccompanied shopping.
  • Personal care: Help with bathing, showering and dressing.
  • Social support: A support worker can visit or accompany and assist you with essential household shopping, paying bills, attending local medical appointments, and maintaining social activities.
  • Respite: Care for you while your carer takes a break.
