Moonee Valley City Council Mayor Cr Pierce Tyson has been announced as one of 13 mayors from across Victoria to be appointed to the Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP) for 2023.

The LGMAP is a statutory advisory panel of 13 Victorian Mayors who advise the Minister for Local Government, Melissa Horne, over the course of the year. They provide advice on legislative and policy decisions that impact the local government sector, as well as presenting ideas and opportunities for improving local government. The work of this year’s panel is expected to focus on governance and accountability

“I am honoured in my first year as Mayor to be appointed to this strategic advisory panel and lending my voice on behalf of our municipality to the vital issues for communities around the state,” Mayor Tyson said.

“Moonee Valley has taken a strong and leading advocacy position on several issues, and I am pleased to work alongside my mayoral colleagues to consider and recommend how local government services can best respond to the needs of all Victorians.

“This panel presents an important opportunity to liaise with the Victorian Government on improvements for communities in priority areas such as healthcare, infrastructure, transport, safety and cost of living.

“I look forward to representing the City of Moonee Valley as part of this local government forum, learning from my fellow Mayors and working with Minister Horne to progress real outcomes for all Victorians.”
