Moonee Valley City Council leads the way in workplace inclusivity

Moonee Valley City Council has been recognised as the only local government organisation to make a coveted list of the top 101 workplaces for women in Australia in 2023.
The national showcase of top performing employers for women was developed by WORK180, a global organisation that commits to raising workplace standards for all women. Moonee Valley City Council was the only local government organisation to feature in the prestigious list that includes leading companies from across industry and corporate Australia.
Moonee Valley City Council Chief Executive Officer, Helen Sui, said the accreditation by WORK180 found Moonee Valley to be exceeding standards in key areas of workplace equity.
“We are proud to have excelled in the standards that were reviewed by WORK180, such as inclusive hiring, representative leadership, salary equity, flexible working, career development, anti-discrimination and employee safety and support.”
Moonee Valley City Council Mayor, Cr Pierce Tyson, said the endorsement by WORK180 reflects Council’s ongoing efforts to foster a safe, inclusive and diverse municipality that provides equality of opportunity.
“We know Moonee Valley is a great place to live, study and work. This accreditation proves Council is also an employer of choice that values and promotes equal employee representation and supports the journey to success for women.
“Creating opportunities for all women to contribute and thrive in their careers through workplace parity is vital to building a community where gender diversity and respect are paramount – and where women can be confident in the vocational paths they pursue,” said Mayor Tyson.
The WORK180 assessment of top workplaces is designed to recognise employers that nurture the talents of women and to help overcome gender discrimination and barriers by influencing change.
