Moonee Valley’s future – have your say

What will the City of Moonee Valley look like in the decades to come?
More importantly, what do you think it should look like?
Everyone who lives, works in or visits Moonee Valley, is invited to share their ideas online – and in-person at a series of community pop-ups that begin this weekend – as Moonee Valley Council revisits and reimagines its long-term planning strategy, MV2040.
City of Moonee Valley Mayor, Cr Pierce Tyson, said much about people’s lifestyles had changed since Moonee Valley’s MV2040 strategy was first launched in 2018, due in no small part to COVID-19.
“The pandemic challenged our health, wellbeing, resilience and sense of community,” Mayor Tyson said. “It caused many of us to reassess what we seek from our neighbourhoods and our communities.
“This has been a catalyst for Council to refresh existing plans to meet the changing needs of the community.”
The MV2040 review was launched in April with a fascinating and insightful public event at Djerring Flemington Hub, led by futurist Simon Waller.
Now, Council is casting the net even wider. A Your Say page is open for feedback, and pop-up information sessions will be held across Moonee Valley from this Saturday, 25 May.
“A lot of community work and passion went in to building MV2040 and we want to grab what’s absolutely the best parts of it and tinker around the edges, and improve things where we need to,” Mayor Tyson said.
Mayor Tyson said the review process was “a dialogue, not a monologue”.
“It’s not talking at our community, it’s engaging in a two-way conversation, and we mean that genuinely.
“Bringing along community members for the journey will ensure we build a future that everyone in Moonee Valley is proud of.”
Feedback and community consultation will be open until the end of August 2024. Here’s how you can get involved and have your say:
- Visit Council’s YourSay page to share your thoughts via the online survey, add to our vision board or voice-record your feedback
- Attend one of our 14 pop-up events at locations around Moonee Valley. The first one is this Saturday, 25 May at Pirate Ship Park, 118 The Boulevard, Aberfeldie (next to the Maribyrnong River) from 10am to 1pm
- Register for one of our online sessions, being held on 13 and 18 June, to have your say from home.
