Moving forward on Flemington Community Hub
The Flemington Community Hub is one step closer to reality after Council last night unanimously resolved to build it on council-owned land.
The decision means council can now engage an architect to get to work on designing the new Hub, that’ll replace the aging Flemington Community Centre and Debneys Park Sports Pavilion.
A community hall, exhibition space, kitchen, training rooms, offices, an art room, and a sport pavilion space will be among the many features of the new hub when it’s fully operational in 2023.
There’ll also be spaces for children, youth and older people with an aim to design a welcoming and respectful place for the diverse communities and cultures of inner Melbourne.
We listened to community feedback on the location of the Hub and choosing to build the project on council land instead of the Department of Housing and Human Services’ housing estate means we can get to work on this much-needed project.
We’ll be taking the community on the journey with us, keep an eye on our website for updates.
