What you need to know
The properties at 62, 64, 66 & 68 Buckley Street, Essendon are from the Federation era and have a landmark location due to their proximity to the intersection of Mt Alexander Road and Buckley Street. They share similar features such as typical Federation rooves and interconnected verandahs. The dwellings have been assessed as having local historical significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
The amendment will apply the Heritage Overlay to ensure that any future use, development or subdivision of the land is considered having regard to the purpose and decision guidelines of the Heritage Overlay and Council’s local heritage policy contained at Clause 21.01 of the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme.
June 2018 update
Amendment C182 was approved by the Minister for Planning on 21 May 2018. It was gazetted into the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme on 7 June 2018.
March 2018 update
On 6 March Council submitted Amendment C182 to the Minister for approval.
February 2018 update
At its Ordinary Meeting on 27 February 2018, Council resolved to formally adopt Amendment C182 and submit the amendment to the Minister for approval. The report presented to Council outlined that four submissions were received during the exhibition period of 16 November to 14 December 2017. All submissions supported the amendment.
December 2017 update
The exhibition period has now closed. There were no unresolved submissions for Amendment C182.
September 2017 update
At its Ordinary Meeting on 26 September 2017, Council resolved to seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning (Minister) to prepare and exhibit Amendment C182. The amendment seeks to apply the Heritage Overlay on a permanent basis to the subject sites.
October 2017 update
Council’s application for authorisation to prepare Amendment C182 to the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme was approved by the Minister for Planning on 17 October 2017.
November 2017 update
Amendment C182 will be exhibited in the Government Gazette on 16 November 2017.
