What is the Nappy Project?
Moonee Valley is a partner for The Nappy Project (currently in its second phase) – a joint project between 14 Victorian Councils. The first phase consisted of a feasibility study in 2022 to understand the barriers to carers using reusable nappies. We also uncovered parents’ needs and how to identify the main enablers to help carers. By doing so, we can encourage the transition to making the switch to reusables. This project has been funded mainly by the Victorian State Government.
Currently, the new phase of the project provides a group of residents access to reusable nappies and a reusable nappy trial. The feasibility study and its recommendations shape this trial design. The trial includes a monitoring component to understand its success and areas for improvement. This is data that Moonee Valley will consider if implementing future reusable nappy programs.
Given that parents can save over $2,000 for each nappy wearing child, we encourage you to register. Eligible residents* will receive a reusable nappy pack to try at no charge.
