National Carers Week 2024

Two people sitting on a couch, an elderly man is smiling at a younger woman who sits beside him.

National Carers Week is a time to recognise, celebrate and raise awareness of the 3 million Australians who provide care to a family member or friend.

About 15% of people in the City of Moonee Valley aged 15 years and over provide unpaid assistance to a person with disability, long term illness or older age.

Anyone can become a carer, at any time, and while people aged between 45 and 64 are most likely to be carers, there are 793 young carers (aged 15-25 years) in our community.

Moonee Valley City Council is committed to supporting people living with a disability, the elderly, and carers to have healthy, active and independent lives.
