Love the outdoors? Become a Nature Steward!
Moonee Valley residents will have the chance to deepen their connection with the natural world when the next round of the Victorian National Parks Association Nature Stewards program begins in March 2026.
Nature Stewards is a multi-week, hands-on course designed to introduce community members to the plants, animals, geology and ecosystems that make up their local environment. Led by conservation experts and supported by councils across Victoria, the program blends practical skills with big-picture understanding, covering everything from rocks, soils and fungi to climate change, seasons and Caring for Country.
Participants will learn how to get involved in citizen science, conservation volunteering, advocacy and guiding, along with the many ways people can support nature in their own backyards.
Past participants have described the experience as a great way to learn more about local environment, meet amazing people and learn so much by connecting with ‘like-minded folk’.
Applications are now open until Sunday, 8 March, and Moonee Valley residents are offered a discount.
Whether you’re looking to meet like-minded locals, learn new environmental skills or find ways to give back to the natural world, Nature Stewards offers an inspiring place to start.
