Parking technology upgrades across Moonee Valley
Parking is an important part of our city’s transport ecosystem.
As our population grows, so too does traffic pressure and demand for parking.
We know how frustrating looking for a carpark can be.
Paid parking and time limits are two ways Council works to make more parking available.
These measures prompt regular parking turnover, meaning more drivers can access the places they need to go, and our local traders can welcome more patrons to their businesses.
We want a cleaner Moonee Valley, one with lower car emissions and less air pollution that harms our environment and community. Implementing time-limited parking means less time in traffic, therefore lowering emissions and supporting a healthier, more sustainable city.
In the coming weeks, you may see maintenance works on some of our parking infrastructure. These are steps to ensure we fairly and accurately enforce parking restrictions.
These works will include upgrades to:
- existing underground sensors, to monitor time-limited parking spaces
- ticketing and payment machines.
Works will happen in our existing sensor areas only. We are not expanding our sensor areas. These works will occur in Niddrie, Essendon, Essendon North, Strathmore, Avondale Heights, Flemington, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Keilor East and Kensington.
Our goal is a better, fair and easier parking system for the whole community.
