Pascoe Vale Road Water Main Renewal Project

water main network in Moonee Ponds

To provide a reliable water supply now and into the future, Greater Western Water is finalising the design of a new, larger water distribution main network in Alexandra Avenue, Feehan Avenue, McPherson Street, Albion Street and Pascoe Vale Road. This will replace the current aging water mains to ensure a clean and reliable water supply, extra capacity, and protection against water loss and leaks.

The project will be delivered for Greater Western Water by Jaydo Construction, with construction to begin in May 2022 and be completed in early 2023. More information will be provided ahead of works commencing.

What we are doing and when

We’re undertaking investigation works to finalise the design, which involves surveying and drilling boreholes to locate all underground services.

These investigation works are planned to be undertaken from mid-March to mid-April 2022 and are expected to take 1-2 days at each location.

The works will start at the intersection of Pascoe Vale Road and Alexandra Avenue and will progressively move along Alexandra Avenue, Dean Street, Feehan Avenue, McPherson Street, Albion Street and Pascoe Vale Road. Locations are shown below.

Work zones will be approximately 40 metres in length and will progressively move through each section of the area, starting at the corner of Pascoe Vale Road and Alexandra Avenue.

Access to Alexandra Avenue from Pascoe Vale Road will be maintained.

What to expect

While we will continue make every effort to minimise disruption and inconvenience to you, the following can be expected:

  • Works are planned to be undertaken between 7am and 6pm, on Monday to Friday. We will notify you in advance if weekend or night works are required.
  • Surveying will involve a small crew of workers using handheld equipment.
  • Scanning equipment will be used to locate underground services. This will involve marking service locations on the road surface with spray paint.
  • A non-destructive digging (NDD) truck may be used to expose underground services in some locations. This may involve brief periods of louder noise.
  • A small drill rig will be used to drill geotechnical boreholes. Low-level noise punctuated by occasional louder drilling noises with no or little dust is expected.
  • Work zones will be set up, with traffic management in place to help vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to safely move around the area.
  • Access to all roads will be maintained while the investigation works take place.
Please plan ahead as there will be temporary changes to traffic conditions, which may result in delays.
  • Parking spaces adjacent to the work zones may be occupied during work hours.

This work will not impact your water or sewerage supplies.
