Carols in Queens Park is back!

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with a free evening of carols, children’s activities and festive cheer in Queens Park.

Gather your family and friends, pack a picnic and experience the magic of the festive season with some of your favourite carols!

Candles, food and refreshments will all be available for purchase. We also recommend bringing a picnic blanket to relax on and enjoy the beautiful evening.

Our Moonee Valley library team will be popping up at Carols with some fun and engaging children’s activities. Pop past and say hello!

Our leisure centre staff will be running some exciting children’s activities. Be sure to pay them a visit, have a chat and say hi!

Food and refreshments

What you need to know

Parking around Queens Park is limited. We encourage you to take public transport where possible.

  • Train - Just a 5-minute walk from Moonee Ponds Train Station.
  • Tram - The nearest tram stop is Stop 32 (Kellaway Avenue/Mt Alexander Rd) on the route 59 tram.
  • Bus - Routes 404, 469, 472, 476, 477, 483, 504, 505, 506 all stop near Queens Park.
  • Parking - There is parking along Mt Alexander Rd, The Strand and nearby side streets. Please check parking signs for time limits.

Carols is the perfect evening to pack a picnic and sit back and enjoy the music. However, we'll have a variety of food trucks serving tasty eats and refreshments.

There'll be plenty happening at Carols for the young and young at heart alike!

Water stations

Keep refreshed on the day with hydration stations available to fill up your water bottle. Alternatively, you can visit the water fountain in the park to keep hydrated.

 

Toilets

There'll also be plenty of temporary toilets available on the day located near the Mount Alexander Road and Pascoe Vale Road entrances. 

 

ATM

There will be no ATMS on site. Vendors will have Eftpos facilities. Additional ATMs can be found on Puckle St or in Moonee Ponds Central. 

We aim for our events to be as accessible as possible. Accessible toilets will be available, and songs will be interpreted by Auslan - Stage Left. This event is wheelchair accessible. An accessible drop off zone will be available at the Civic Centre carpark (Kellaway Avenue) If you would like to discuss access needs please get in touch with us at eventsandactivations@mvcc.vic.gov.au

Food and drink

While we have a range of food vendors on site who will be serving up delicious treats, you're more than welcome to bring your own food, picnic or snacks to enjoy the throughout the evening.

You may also bring alcohol, but please note this is a free family event and we encourage responsible drinking in non-breakable cups. The event will also be monitored by security. 

 

Seating

Get comfy and unwind at Carols by bringing along a picnic blanket, low chairs, and pillows. If you're planning on bringing along higher camp chairs, please be considerate of your fellow audience members and erect your chair at rear sections or away from others’ viewing sightlines.  

 

Money and card payment options

If you're keen to grab a tasty treat from our vendors, or purchase a candle to light on the evening, please ensure you bring along cash or card options with you on the day. Please note, ATMs are not available on site.

While we love seeing your furry friends get in the spirit of Christmas, we recommend they give this event a miss. Queens Park is an on-lead area and we anticipate the event will be very busy, with lots of children in attendance. 

Lost child

ID wrist bands will be available at the Information Tent, where parents can write their name and phone number and attach the band to the child. A Lost Children Point will be set up next to the Information tent next to the cenotaph. If you lose your child please contact Event staff at Information Tent or moving around the site. Staff will be identifiable in high-vis vests. 

 

Lost property

There will be staff at the information tent who will be able to assist you with any lost property concerns.
