Great Getaways
Join us to explore and experience the best Victoria has to offer! You will be transported via bus to coastal, leafy, cosmopolitan and architectural sites across the state.
Cost varies based on activity. Pricing includes pickup from one of the following locations:

Activities are subject to change. If an activity is cancelled, you will be notified a minimum of 24 hours before the event.
Healthy Ageing Exercise program
Council offers a range of affordable classes to improve the health and wellbeing of seniors. The Healthy Ageing exercise programs cost is $9.00 per session for individuals aged 65+ registered with My Aged Care (CHSP), and individuals under 65 registered with Home and Community Care Program for Younger Persons (HACC PYP).
The classes cover exercise programs including:
- Strength training
- Tai Chi
- Yoga
- Zumba
- Pilates

Knit and Knatter
Have you always wanted to knit but don’t know how? Or are you a skilled knitter and just want to be able to meet like-minded people?
Then come along to the Ascot Vale Neighbourhood Centre and create items that benefit the community. All materials are provided, and there is no cost to attend if you’re registered with My Aged Care.
This program runs on Tuesdays at 10.30am and is held at the Corner of Munro Street and Union Road, Ascot Vale.
Men's Shed and Ladies' Shed
A safe and friendly space to learn skills and connect.
What we can do
- Learn new skills
- Have a yarn and a cuppa
- Make friends and feel supported
Social Links lunch
Social Links is a great way to stay connected to your peers and the community. The group meets monthly for lunch and enjoys an activity such as trivia, or exercise.
This group meets once a month, and sessions cost $22 including lunch.
Location: Crown St Stables, Flemington
Time: Once a month. We’ll contact you with the date.
Voices of Moonee Valley choir
We are proud to partner with Play It Forward (founded by Dr Jonathon Welch AM) to bring you weekly singing classes.
Program details
Classes will be conducted at Crown Street Stables, 40 Crown St (and via Zoom) on Fridays from 11am until 12.30pm during the Victorian School terms.
- Term 1, commencing, 7 February to 4 April
- Term 2, commencing, 2 May to 4 July
- Term 3, commencing, 25 July to 19 September
- Term 4, commencing, 10 October to 12 December

Cost
Joining the choir will cost $90 per team (full term fees payable at the start of each term) for those registered through Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or Home and Community Care Program for Younger Persons (HACC PYP).
Registration information
The eligibility terms for those under 65 years old registering need to also identify with any of the following:
- Require assistance to engage in enjoyable social activities due to chronic health condition(s), physical impairment or mental health concerns (ongoing or episodic)
- Have a disability but ineligible for the NDIS
- Are from a Culturally or Linguistically Diverse Background
- Are vulnerable young adults
- Experience social isolation
- Are at risk of homelessness
- Care for a person who is eligible for HACC PYP services

If you are over 65 years please complete this form. You will also need to register through My Aged Care, call Team Leader Disability Access & Support 9243 8712 who will seek your permission to be referred, and then explain the process that will follow.

Bowes Avenue Community Centre program
Bowes Avenue Community Centre runs a range of programs to support the health and wellbeing and social connection for older adults within the community. Programs at Bowes Ave promote an improve quality of life, healthy ageing and strengthening community engagement.
Bowes Ave programs are not subject to My Aged Care regulations.

Join the Active Ageing Reference Group
The Active Ageing Reference Group is responsible for providing advice and recommendations as representatives of the broader community. It will provide insight into the issues impacting Council’s ageing population.
