Significant achievements announced in Council Annual Report 2024/25

In October, Council adopted its Annual Report for the 2024/25 financial year. The Report highlights significant progress in delivering major city-shaping projects and strong financial and operational performance. Important strides have been made toward providing new and improved community facilities, improving our environmental sustainability and greening our City, igniting creativity in Moonee Valley, and representing our First People’s and LGBTIQA+ communities. 

Key achievements for 2024/25 included:  

  • total operating surplus of $23.54m, which is $18.17m above the adopted budget of $5.37m 
  • Trailblazing international exhibition The Playground Project Melbourne had its Southern Hemisphere debut at the Incinerator Gallery 
  • completion of the Montgomery Park Kindergarten 
  • delivery of Clifton Park Pavilion, as part of the Clifton Park Masterplan 
  • completion of the Essendon Rowing Club’s female-friendly change room upgrade 
  • Keilor Road streetscape improvements, with increased greenery and improved pedestrian safety    
  • planting of over 2,000 trees across the municipality to help achieve our goal of 30% canopy tree coverage by 2040 
  • commencement of a refreshed long-term MV2040 Strategy and Community Vision, along with development of a new Council Plan, Asset Plan and Financial Plan. 
  • Thank you to the people who have helped to shape these projects – your participation in feedback opportunities ensures these improvements best meet the needs of the community. We are pleased to have achieved these major milestones in the 2024/25 financial year as we work to create our City as a healthy, vibrant and welcoming place for people to live, work, shop, create and play.
