Statement on the passing of Maribyrnong councillor and 3-time former mayor, Cr Sarah Carter

Attributable to Mayor Pierce Tyson, City of Moonee Valley.

Mayor Emeritus, Cr Sarah Carter, was a relentlessly glass half-full optimist through her decade and a half service to the Maribyrnong community.

I was honoured to work with Sarah, as fellow heads of our respective neighbouring cities in 2023, and most importantly, proud to call her a friend.

Sarah was the best tradition of the Labor Party, a kind of person who would generously and compassionately give her time, and someone we should all strive to be more like.

Her work has reached far wider than the City of Maribyrnong, supporting children internationally across the continents.

The City of Moonee Valley passes on our condolences to her partner, family, friends, colleagues and the thousands of people whose lives she touched.
