Women’s Leadership Program Expressions of Interest

Moonee Valley City Council acknowledges that community leaders are a valuable community asset and is committed to developing leadership capacity in local women.

The Women's Leadership Program is an opportunity for women to support the next wave of community leaders to make positive social change. Participants will gain knowledge and skills to work with their community to reduce inequality as well as promote greater inclusion and diversity.

Over 9 weeks, participants will build their leadership, communication and teamwork skills in a supportive environment whilst designing game changing projects.

The program aims to:

  • Resource women of Moonee Valley with the confidence and skills to advocate for change and develop ideas for community projects or initiatives
  • Provide a space for connection and support amongst local women who are passionate about social change and their community
  • Discover and identify different types of leadership
  • Discover individual and collective gifts and assets
  • Build and share leadership capacity

The expectations and requirements of participants are to:

  • Must be available to participate in the program over 9 weeks commencing on Monday, 22 July 2024 and concluding on Monday, 9 September with a graduation celebration on Monday, 23 September.
  • Weekly sessions will occur on Mondays 9.45am for a 10am start and concluding at 2pm at Djerring Flemington Hub.
  • Have or identify a project idea or challenge to explore and work on throughout the program
  • Potluck Lunch – share a plate together each week
  • Show politeness and respect for other participants views and opinions.

Participants can expect to:

  • Build on individual passions and apply skills to real life projects
  • Create a safe, welcoming and culturally safe environment
  • Gain the tools and confidence to become change-makers in the community
  • Improve leadership, communication and advocacy skills
  • Connect with like-minded women, build social and professional networks and contribute to community
