Project Update – Nursery Corner – Demolition Works

Nursery Corner (Rear of 144A Mascoma Street, Strathmore) is a former plant nursery site located along the Moonee Ponds Creek. The site has been returned to Council for use as parkland for the general public. To reinstate the site as public open space parkland, existing above ground structures will be removed, followed by soil remediation.

Scope of Demolition Works

  • Sediment barrier will be installed along creek
  • Demolition of all structures above ground and surface level such as building structures, storage sheds, metal structures, concrete paved areas, concrete pots and glass house structures over the next 8 weeks
  • All underground and overhead services will be capped/abolished

Wildlife Management

  • John Harris, of Wildlife and Ecology, will attend site during works to oversee the duration of works and relocate the fauna safely and appropriately

Soil Remediation

  • A phase 1 and 2 soil contamination report has been completed
  • Further soil investigations will be carried out during site clearing works
  • Hazardous material and asbestos have been carefully identified and will be removed
