In Sympathy
Moonee Valley City Council expressed their condolences following two tragic events that happened in Ascot Vale and Niddrie earlier this month. Council offered heartfelt sympathy to all those impacted as well as first responders and community members who reached out to support traders and others affected.
Contracts for waste collection and in-home meals
Council has signed a new contract with Cleanaway to deliver kerbside waste collection for the next seven years. Also approved on Tuesday was a contract variation with Chef’s Kitchen Australia, which provides meals to residents in need of assistance. The service currently offers some 800 meals a week to 280 residents.
Staying Connected
Council has signed an agreement with Microsoft Enterprise to deliver its digital operations. Microsoft currently provides Council with a range of productivity tools, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and advanced security.
Being Safe in the Workplace
Council reiterated its commitment to providing a physically and psychologically safe workplace by noting the organisation’s Quarterly People and Safety Report, which detailed the progress of the implementation of Council’s Work Health and Safety Strategy and Plan 2025–2026.
Under the plan, Council is leading a structured approach to meeting legislative obligations. Ongoing work is also planned over the next six months to strengthen and embed its obligations under the State Government’s new Occupational Health and Safety (Psychological Health) Regulations 2025 that came into effect on 1 December.
Meetings and Public Forums in 2026
New Year planning is already underway at Moonee Valley City Council with the adoption of a new schedule of meetings and public forums.
In the year ahead, the Council is planning to host 23 meetings and public forums -kicking off on Wednesday, 28 January. The remainder of the Council Meetings during the year will be held on the third Tuesday of the month, and all meetings start at 6.30 pm.
Public Forums are also held monthly on a Tuesday. The first event of the schedule will be held on Tuesday, 17 February at 6 pm. The community are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to come along and present on topics or matters that are important to them and our city.
