Clothing Swap – refresh your wardrobe and reduce waste
Did you know that Australians throw away six tonnes of clothing every 10 minutes?
Let’s slow this down this waste – and have some fun while doing it!
You are invited to join Moonee Valley’s first-ever Clothing Swap, taking place at Maribyrnong Park Bowls Club on Saturday, October 11.
Bring up to eight good-quality items (clothes, shoes, belts, bags, etc.) you no longer wear and swap them for something “new-to-you” — all for free!
Register for free via Eventbrite. There are only 100 places available, so get in quick!
How it works
- 10–11am: Drop off your washed, undamaged items (no kids’ clothing, underwear, activewear, costumes, or damaged/unclean garments) & get a token for each eligible item.
- 11am–12pm: Use your tokens to “buy” your fresh finds!
- Enjoy free coffee or tea from Blak Brews, biscuits from Helping Hands, and watch Assembled Threads sewing demos while you wait.
Please note: garments must be of good quality and free from stains, holes, pilling and smells, with plenty of wear left in them. Items will be screened during drop off before being exchanged for tokens. Unaccepted items include children’s clothing, wigs, underwear, socks, swimwear, activewear, costumes and damaged or unclean items. Once you have swapped your items for a token, we are not able to return the item.
