Help us shape our next Arts and Culture Plan
What you need to know

Council has started development of a new Arts and Culture Plan. The plan will guide Council’s decisions about how we invest in arts and culture for the next four years.
Arts and culture play a big part in our daily lives. Joining in or enjoying the arts and celebrating our unique mix of cultures is central to our society. From collective joy at our festivals, to quiet contemplation in our galleries, the bustle of music on our streets, inspiration on our stages, to enriched stories from our preserved heritage; the arts and culture underpin our social cohesion, learning and celebration.
We're inviting our community, artists and businesses to help shape arts and culture in our City.

The Arts and Culture Plan will provide us with a roadmap that will capture the voice of the community and create an ‘aspirational narrative’ showing the potential for arts and culture in Moonee Valley. From dance to sporting culture to street art to choir, Council is keen to help residents maintain that critical connection to the economic, social and health benefits that artistic and cultural activities provide. We can do this by deciding what activities and events to support, and what infrastructure to invest in.
We can’t do this without the help of the Moonee Valley community so we are inviting artists, creative industries, audiences, businesses and wider community to join the conversation about how we can make Moonee Valley a city that is alive with the arts, is rich in culture, and welcoming.
We’ve commissioned an Arts and Culture Discussion Paper to help identify the right questions we need to ask residents, artists, and businesses as we shape the plan.

- Moonee Valley Arts and Cultural Plan Discussion Paper August 2022 - Accessible text version (docx, 14MB)
This will be the guiding document to help us build a plan from public feedback and consultation with different sectors of the local community.
