Kindergarten Redevelopment

Our kindergartens are growing. Find out what's planned and stay up to date with the redevelopment projects.

The Victorian Government is dedicated to ensuring all children have the best start to life. To achieve this, the government is making substantial investments to make room for more children to access increased hours in kindergarten programs throughout the state.

Moonee Valley City Council is committed to a partnership with the Victorian Government to deliver these opportunities to children in our community. Over the next five years, we will work together on various kindergarten redevelopment projects to address the anticipated increase in demand for places.

This major infrastructure initiative underscores our investment in delivering high-quality early childhood education, with co-located maternal and child health services, to families and children across the municipality.

Below are details of the kindergarten infrastructure projects that Moonee Valley City Council and the Victorian Government will deliver to our community to maximise opportunities for access and participation for all children.

Find out more about the Best Start, Best Life reforms, which include the introduction of free 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten programs from 2023 and the transition of 4-year-old kindergarten to 'Pre-Prep' – a universal, 30-hour a week play-based learning program – by 2032. These reforms will also see 15 hours of funded 3-year-old kindergarten available to all children in Victoria by 2029.
