Measles cases are rising – get vaccinated now to help protect yourself and the community

Measles cases are rising in Melbourne. This highly contagious disease can cause serious illness. Moonee Valley City Council has partnered with Western Health Public Health Unit and the Department of Health to promote the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine. Adults aged 20-59 may not be fully protected against measles. Many people born between 1966 and 1992 did not get two doses during childhood, and adults born overseas may be even more likely to have missed out. Two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine will keep you safe.

Eligible persons are those who are:

  • aged 20-59 years at the time of vaccination AND
  • who have fewer than two documented doses of MMR on their health record

AND

  • who have no contraindications to MMR vaccine.

This program aims to strengthen community protection by increasing MMR coverage in adults in the western suburbs of Melbourne, and across Victoria.
