Street party temporary road closure permits – update
Council is currently reviewing its street party and temporary road closure processes to ensure appropriate safety, traffic management and risk controls are in place.
In the interim, applications for temporary road closures for street parties will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with priority given to public safety and risk. As a result, not all applications may be supported.
Where applications are considered, applicants may be required to meet additional requirements, including engaging a qualified traffic management company, providing an approved Traffic Management plan, holding appropriate public liability insurance, and covering all associated costs.
We encourage the use of alternative venues, such as parks or Council-managed facilities, during this period.
Further updates will be provided once the review is complete.
Applicants must state the following:
- date, time, duration and location of the event
- purpose of the closure
- length of closure (from street to street)
- include a copy of public liability insurance of $20 million cover.
All applications must be submitted to us at least 10 working days before the event.
If for any other reasons there is a road or traffic lane closure, you will need to apply for a Road Occupancy permit (pdf, 191 KB) or a Works within a Municipal Road Reserve online application.
