Moonee Valley parks and open spaces are ideal to host your next private activity, from weddings, to birthday parties to school and kindergarten events.

Book a park or open space for your next private activity

When do I need a booking?

By contacting Council to discuss your activity, we can help make sure your chosen location is available, answer any queries you may have and advise you of your responsibilities.

You will need to submit a booking application if your activity is taking place in a public space (such as a local park or reserve) and involves one or more of the following:

  • wedding or ceremony (regardless of the number of guests)
  • social gatherings or school group activities with over 100 people in attendance.

You will not require a booking for:

  • social gatherings of less than 100 people (excluding weddings)
  • passive recreational activities
  • indoor events
  • wedding photos only.

If you are organising a community event, please visit community events page.

What can I set up for my event?

For weddings and private activities in parks, we allow:

  • one marquee (sized 3m x 6m or under), provided it is weighted to manufacturer’s instructions. Pegging of any structures is not permitted
  • a signing table
  • up to 20 chairs.

For weddings and private activities in parks, we do not allow:

  • more than 20 chairs
  • arches or carpet runners
  • balloons
  • barbecues
  • vehicle access
  • amusements, inflatables and animal farms/rides/petting zoos
  • pegging of any kind, for any structure
  • confetti.
People enjoy a sunny day at a park with white umbrellas and chairs. Adults and children interact, creating a lively, relaxed atmosphere amid lush greenery.

Important information

  • Submit your application at least weeks prior to your event.
  • Provided you have supplied all relevant information, assessment of your application may take place within 4 weeks of your application date.
  • As your activity is being held in public open space, there is no guarantee that your chosen location will be available. Your booking provides you with permission to use the location for your activity, provided that location is available at the time.
  • For parks with a body of water (e.g. Queens Park) the water fountain’s primary purpose is for aeration of water, its operation cannot be linked to a specific time.
